Our new video series is a massive help those who want to maintain their own WordPress site.

The dashboard

The Dashboard is the first screen you see when you log into the administration area of your blog.

The main idea of the dashboard is to give you a place where you can get an at-a-glance overview of what’s happening with your blog. You can catch up on news, view your draft posts, see who’s linking to you or how popular your content’s been, quickly put out a no-frills post, or check out and moderate your latest comments. It’s like a bird’s eye view of operations, from which you can swoop down into the particular details. View Now

Posts

Posts, which are always associated with a date, are what make your blog a blog. They’re servings of content that are listed in reverse chronological order (newest to oldest) on your blog’s front page. Covers the ways to publish a post, where to edit a post, and how to delete a post. View Now

Pages

Pages are static. They are a good way to publish information that doesn’t change much, like an About page. Pages appear in the Pages widget and in tabs/links across the top of some themes. Pages are not associated with a date/time like posts. They are what most people will use to impart the basic information of what their business or organisation is about. View Now

Editor

When creating a post or page on your WordPress.com blog, you have two editing modes available to you, Visual & Text. Visual is the easiest to use and provides a semi-WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get) content editor that allows you to easily create, edit, and format your blog content in a view similar to that of a word processor. View Now

Images
